A combination of thin-server hardware and software technology, this (standalone or integrated) eCabinet is a dedicated document management product that connects to any standard TCP/IP network. The eCabinet automatically captures, indexes, archives, and retrieves all electronic and paper business documents that flow through an office --such as:
- Emails (routed by user-defined key phrases)
- PC documents (Word Processing, Spreadsheet, pdf, whatever)
- Faxes (both incoming & out-going)
- Photocopies
- Scans (both text and images)
- Application Output (including critical 'official documents')
- General Printout Reports
- Web Pages
Documents are captured (and routed to particular storage folders based on user-defined rules -- inclusive of an optional informative 'alert' communicated to designated Staff) with state-of-the-art OCR and indexing technology -- so they can be easily and instantly retrieved from a convenient Web-User-Interface. Users will never again have trouble locating a misplaced fax or presentation that was prepared by a vacationing colleague. And, because eCabinet is Browser-based, you already know 'how to use' eCabinet. And, since eCabinet is based on open interfaces and protocols, it can be easily configured to work with the leading office peripheral products.
How it Works
From printers to scanners, fax machines to desktop computers, eCabinet securely stores any file type from your network office peripherals -- and they are retrieved from the convenience of your favorite Web browser by simply searching eCabinet for words, names, or dates found in your document's text... or by viewing thumbnails of files that you've captured. With the Abacus 21 eCabinet Applicational Extensions integrated in, you also have the benefit of having having those Words, Names, and Dates indexed directly to key pieces of document information -- such as Member Name, Member Number, Statement Date, POS Ticket Date, Register Type/Date/Number, Vendor, P/O Number, Invoice Number-Date-Vendor, Inventory Item, Employee Number, etc.
If you want to find your documents by searching for indexed content, the database technology recognizes over 200 of the most popular file formats and extracts text with an OCR (optical character recognition) engine. eCabinet then stores all document information into a full-content searchable index. You can also personalize document retrieval by entering in your own metadata such as keyword notes and workgroup names for the index to store. eCabinet even automatically backs up all captured files to DVD or NFS, ensuring that you've got failsafe backups of all of your documents, and can find them when you need them, fast!
The actual storage device (and included eCabinet software interface) is available in a powerful rack-mountable 2100 model or a convenient desktop 1000 model.

This feature simpliefies the 'scan, tag, and store' process when storing documents or images -- including facilitating a scanning workflow solution.

Scan Capture is a Windows PC-based application with a user-friendly and intuitive interface. Scan Capture controls your scanner to allow users to easily capture documents or images that can then be combined, separated, or annotated with 'drag-and-drop' ease prior to being stored on an
eCabinet.
