Subject: Your help, yesterday

Raymond,

Thank very much for your assistance yesterday. Total pleasure working with you.

Think we may have found the cause of the "stall" in Interbase.  I do not believe it was related to anything "Abacus" nor hardware related.  We had, recently (around the same time as the A21 upgrade) upgraded a utility we use for internal support and network monitoring.  This was running an "audit routine" at roughly the same time as we were experiencing the Interbase outage.  I excluded the Interbase server from this routine yesterday evening and, so far today (and we are past the witching hour) all is good.

Again thanks

Hi Butch,

Hope all is well with you and your Abacus family J

I am very happy to tell you that we have completed the 441 upgrade for both A/P and A/R and are completely stand alone on system 441 [complete migrated off of Abacus 21's older Legacy-Comet System].  Kim was wonderful to work with, a true professional and very knowledgeable.  It was, for the most part, a smooth and seamless upgrade.  All subsidiary schedules tie to the penny!  ...

Thanks again to you and your staff.

Hi Clark,

Thanks very much for your comments regarding our Installers.  They are all really focused on helping our Clients installs (or in your case, the Migration)... and we are proud of their dedication.

La Quinta is a big-complex-spreadout software/hardware mix (not to mention the mixture of people)... and it was an accolade to everyone involved -- LQR's Management, IT, Accounting, Staff, KSL-Hilton affiliates... and our bunch (both on-site and at-home behind the scenes) -- that it was accomplished.

We all know that there are still some 'dangling participles' yet to be attended to... but we're prepared to assist you in tackling them.

Thanks again for all your support.... and your compliments.

Nelson,I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all that Jose has done for us.  Whenever I need help or request information, not only do I get what I need right away but he makes sure that it is exactly what I needed.

Here is a list of things that I have asked of him and have received:
  • Recipes – He has given us instructions on how to print the list ourselves Inventory Items have all been transferred into 441 from Legacy Creating a separate Spool for Cost Control so they have their own spool so no one can delete it.
  • Training – We have trained with the Purchasing Managers, Cost Controllers, & me.  Very detailed and patient.  He makes sure that we understand everything before moving on.
  • Walked me through fixing the Grand Design Salon in Legacy so they could get up and running. Showed me how to set up and change users in Legacy. Along with Kim, Jose has helped me to understand and set up Abacus 441.

He has definitely helped us to move the Abacus 441 installation along.

Hi Butch,

Just a quick note to let you know what a wonderful job Sue [Schmid, one of Abacus 21's Installers] did while she was here. (My brain is still fried). She really got though to the people here and believe you me that's not easy.

The Boutique staff now know how to use the system more efficiently and correctly.

We're still testing the Spa out but, they should be fine as they are only using the reservation module right now.

I gave Sue a big task in coming up with the customs interface which would make filing those forms everyday so much quicker and easier for us. She'll update you on that as we spent a lot of time going over it.

Thanks, and it was great working with Sue!

Anniversary

April 2006 marks the 25th Anniversary of Abacus 21.

During this time, we have maintained our focus on providing software systems for Clubs, Resorts, HomeOwner Associations, and Management Companies.

And, through the nuances and pressures of business, we have maintained our identity, our integrity, and our standards of personal commitment to our products and our Clientele.

Of course, we would be nowhere without our Clients -- and we appreciate your relationships (both business and personal) over the years.

And we couldn't have done it without our Business Associates and Vendors.

And, most importantly, none of this could have happened so successfully without the talents and loyalties of our Abacus 21 staff -- who make up the true 'character' of Abacus 21... and who are THE BEST.

On behalf of all of us at Abacus 21, thank you so much for your support over the years.

We've been around a long time.... and, guess what, we've just "re-enlisted" for the longer haul.

Sincerely,

Butch Lesniak

Kim from CCV just called just to say Thanks!  She is very impressed with the Register Log in G/L.  She said it used to be that when she called the golf shop with a question regarding what they sold, they never had an answer for her.  Now, she goes into the log, puts in a date, and there is the information she is looking for.  She said she may never need to speak with the golf shop again, and for that, "Thank you Abacus".

Subject: F&B Go Live with Sue

I just wanted to let you know how pleased we were with the job that Sue and your supporting staff did during our recent F&B go live. As you may have been aware, I was very apprehensive going into the conversion. I'm not a fan of last-minute upgrades, but I have to admit that everything went very smoothly. Sue did a magnificent job training the servers and managers. She's very good at relating to all types of people. We were all trully sad to see her leave. In addition, her work ethic is incredible. She worked tremendous hours while she was here, and she never gave the slightest indication that she'd rather be doing something else.

The feedback from the F&B staff so far has been overwhelmingly positive. I am hopeful that the F&B staff will be able to spread their excitement to the retail staff. We are excited about moving forward with retail and will do so once the commission report is available. (We depend on the commission report that is in Legacy and are not willing to give it up - it was one of the things that Abacus could do that Jonas could not).

In addition, we'd like to learn more about how to use the e-mail address fields that are in the new membership database. Our Board of Directors is very interested in this feature, and I believe that using it would be a good way to highlight Abacus. Please let me know the best way to proceed in obtaining this training.

Again, thanks for a successful F&B go live! We're on our way!

Hi Kim and Butch,

I just wanted to THANK YOU again for all your efforts in getting (hopefully) to the point of operational.

Sue did a GREAT job, her knowledge of the system was excellent. I really appreciate the fact that when she is not sure of an answer she tells you that and then follows up on the question. There were very few questions, pertaining to setups, that she didn't have the answer.

It was a good move to have Ralph here also. It really helped get things rolling. Getting the printers here while he was on-site helped tremendously.

I will be sending a list of questions/requests later but, I wanted to get this out right away. You have all worked very hard to get us to where we are at and I'm really grateful.

Thanks,

Dalinda

P.S. I really like the looks and functionality of the new system! Seems very user friendly.

The files you sent are fine. We have loaded all the information into the CE system and are moving forward with the nightly upload process with LaQuinta and PGAWest. They should be live by the end of the week if all goes well.

Once again, thanks for the hard work. I am sure that little things will creep up as we install more clients on this interface, but for now, all looks great.

We will be contacting the next client on our list to see if they are interested in the interface. Hopefully we will be having more sites go live soon. Let me know if you have and further documentation that you are training the club with as our client services group would be interested to see how it works so that they can talk intelligently to the client when troubleshooting issues. The member pictures are now displaying correctly in all the different programs - thank you all for your help - we went live yesterday and it was a big success - they love the new system.

I do have one remaining issue for Markham regarding the QDATACRD program: but with all the excitement yesterday I didn't get a chance to document it - I'll be at the club on Monday July 1 - and I'll research the problem further and let you know on Monday how I would like to handle it - but this is not a show-stopper.

Thanks again for all your help - you all did a super job for us and it's really good to know that you are there for us when we need you.

From Eldorado Country Club - quoted in Hospitality Upgrade 2003

Like many clubs, the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. had been using a collection of separate systems for many years, some of which had been customized for them with all the functional advantages and support vulnerabilities that brings. Last year they decided that the advantages of a standard integrated system outweighed their familiarity with the existing products, and began a phased implementation of Abacus 21’s new Windows-based system. How has it gone?

“Overall, we’ve been very pleased with the new system,” said Katie Miller, the club’s assistant controller, who has overall project responsibility. “The depth of functionality within each module is great, and having them all integrated has solved the interface problems we used to have.” ...

“Most of the challenges we’ve had have been those you’d expect with any new product. We were the first user of the Windows-based POS module and probably will be for timekeeping and inventory, too. The inevitable initial problems we encountered were frustrating, of course, and we’ve sent in a few enhancement requests, but I cannot say enough good things about the quality of the Abacus support team. They’ve been outstanding!”

As with any club, Eldorado’s members expect things to be done just the way they want them. Miller said, “It’s really refreshing to have a vendor who understands that.”
