Telxon Gun Installation -

The following instructions will assist you in the installation of the Telxon 960 Portable Scanner-Recorders:

Make sure you fully change the Telxon Units before attempted the Installation (or actual use for that matter).

1. Create a directory called x\A21\Telxon.

2. Make sure Abacus 21 Installations or Support Department has provided the latest PCTCOS, ABA961.HEX, and Telxon programs

3. Install PCTCOS and ABA961.HEX in x\A21\Telxon directory

4. Plug the Telxon Gun into the cable that came with the Gun... and plug the other end of the cable into Com1 on the PC.

5. On PC from the x\A21\Telxon prompt, run PCTCOS.

6. In PCTCOS, ‘Download files using submit file?'  Enter N on the PC keyboard.

7. Turn on the Telxon by squeezing trigger on the unit.

• The Telxon should display 72> on the Gun's screen.

8. On the PC at 'Enter file name' prompt in PCTCOS, type ABA961.HEX and hit Enter.

• At the '2nd file name' prompt, press Enter on the PC keyboard.

9. Multiple downloads?  On PC keyboard, type N enter.

• If you are downloading ABA961.HEX onto more than one Gun, on the PC keyboard type Y and Enter --  and after the 1st Telxon Gun is programmed, it will prompt you to plug in the 2nd Gun.

10. On the Telxon Gun at the 72> prompt, press 8 and press Enter twice on the Gun.  You will hear a series of beeps and see ++++ (plus signs) go across PC screen... and then on PC screen it will read "ALL DONE”.

11. The Telxon gun has now loaded with the ABA961.hex program.

12. Unplug the Telxon gun from the serial cable that you plugged into the gun.. and unplug serial cable from Com1 (serial port) on the PC.

13. On the Telxon Gun, press the 6 key one time and then press Enter.  The Telxon Gun screen will display ABA961.X 013.8

14. On the Telxon Gun, press the 3 key and hold it down until the Telxon gun beeps three times... and then remove you finger from the 3 key.

15. The Telxon Gun should now be loaded -- and on the display screen of the Telxon Gun it should read "ABACUS 21 CLUB SYSTEMS”.  The screen on the Telxon Gun will go to the setup screen automatically.

16. On the Telxon Gun screen, you will be prompted for UNIT ID.  At the UNIT ID prompt enter 11111111 (press 1 eight times).

17. At the COMM TYPE prompt, press 2 for baud rate of 19.2.

18. At the POLL?  N - Press the ‘N’ button on Telxon gun.

19. IS THE SETUP CORRECT?  'Y' - Press the ‘Y’ button on the Telxon Gun.

20. When setup is finished, the Telxon screen will go to the MAIN MENU.

• The MAIN MENU will read:

• Requisitions

• Purchases

• Inventory

• File Transfer

• Setup

21. Requisitions and Purchases will have an * (asterisk) next to them.

22. On the Telxon gun press the SHIFT button (release it).

• On the Telxon Gun, press the ERASE Button (G key then release it).

• Press the 4 button to clear all files.

23. The Telxon Gun is now loaded and ready to go.

24. Create an icon on the PC that will be used for uploading and downloading the Items, Inventory Counts (optional), Requisition Amounts (optional), and Order Amounts (optional) using the Telxon Gun.  The Icon will run the A21GUN.exe program.
