This section of the Documentation describes how to change certain Abacus 21 System 441 Application Navigation Menu references.
Note that this option is NOT intended for us by other than Abacus 21 personnel. Any problems arising from an End-User's use of this option are not covered under Abacus 21 Normal-Support. Please contact Abacus 21 Support if you have any questions.
This example will illustrate how to:
Change a Menu Option Name (Caption)
Change a Menu Option Photo Image (if pertinent)
Modify an Menu Control Button (the 'gray' buttons on the left of the Menu Navigation System screen)
In this context, we will show how to modify several entities of the Menu System:
The main Application Menu Screen (changing the 'Human Resources' button)
On the 'Staff Setup' Menu, changing the 'Job Class Setup' Option
Creating a Application Menu Control Button jump that will go directly to the 'Work Class Setup' (the re-titled version of 'Job Class Setup')
First, examine the original sequence of Navigation System Application Menu Screens... beginning with the main Abacus 21 Application Menu:

Notice the 'Human Resources' Button in the above 9-Button Image Menu.
We will be altering the 'Human Resources' Button to say 'Funny People' -- and will change the image to Clowns.
Also notice that there are five (5) unspecified Application Control Buttons on the left side.
Our example will configure the first of these empty Buttons to jump directly to the 'Work Class Setup' (that will be re-titled from 'Job Class Setup' on the Staff Setup Menu.
Note in the above that the 'Human Resources' Application Menu (9-Button-Radio) starts with the Timekeeping - System 441 Menu Option... and has a photo of Big Ben on the right.

Note in the above that 'Staff Setup' Option on the 'Human Resources' Menu has an image of the two Employees.

Notice in the above that the 'Staff Setup' Menu has a slightly different image (with 'fuzzy' borders... it's a different image).

Notice in the above that the highlighted Option is called 'Job Class Setup'... and has an image of the Abacus 21 Show Booth.
Our example will change this Menu Option to say "Work Class Setup"... and we will change the image to a flower.
To alter Abacus 21 Menu System references, Quick-Jump (INS-MBL) to Installation - Menu Builder:
Note that this Menu System option is on the Abacus 21 'Installation' Menu -- and, as such, is not available to the normal Client User.

Now, starting at the bottom of what we want to accomplish...
Changing the 'Job Class Setup' Menu Option -
Drill down thru the Application Menu structure until you get to the Menu Option you want to change:

We will be altering the 'Job Class Setup' Menu Option (within the 'Staff Setup' Menu of the 'Human Resources' Menu).
Right-Click on the Menu Option you wish to change, and choose 'Edit' ("Job Class Setup"... or whatever Option):

You will then be able to edit the Menu Option:

There are two Tabs: Data & Visual
The Data Tab allows you to change any of the specific references for the Menu Option
The Visual Tab focuses changes on the 'visual' aspects of the Menu Option
To change the Menu Option Title (caption) from 'Job Class Setup' to 'Work Class Setup', merely edit the 'Caption' field:

To change the visual aspects, Click on the 'Visual' Tab:

To change the image, Right-Click on the "Right" Menu Area (the pale yellow area where it says 'Work Class Setup'):

Use the 'Set Picture' option to change the image from:

to:

.... resulting in:

Notice that the 'Job Class Setup' verbiage has been changed to 'Work Class Setup'... and the image has been switched to the flower.
The 'Display Option checkbox related to the "Right" Menu Area is not pertinent in this example -- since the 9-Button Radio option Image does not show the caption.
See the On-Line Documentation for Photo Images specifications.
Since we are in the (now) 'Work Class Setup' Option (and we ultimately want to configure a Control Button to jump to it), the Control Button 'version' of this option can be set up here. Right-Click on the "Left" Menu Area:

Change the Button Image from:

To:

... resulting in:

Note that the "Left" Menu Area has the 'Display Caption' checkbox un-checked... meaning that the Control Button with NOT display the Caption.
Notice also that you can:
Set Caption Font
Set Background Color (for the Caption)
Clear Picture
Hit 'Save' (or 'Undo')... and 'Close' when done with your various Menu Option changes... and navigate to the Menu Option to view the results:

Modifying the 'Human Resources' Button (on the Main Application Menu) -
In the Menu Builder, call up and edit the 'Human Resources' Menu Option:

Change the Caption to 'Funny People':

Go to the 'Visual' Tab, and change the Image:

To change the Font (and Font Background), Right-Click on the "Right" Menu Area:

Hit 'Save' (or 'Undo')... and 'Close' when done with your various Menu Option changes... and navigate to the Menu Option to view the results:

Creating an Application Control Button -
On the left side of the Navigation System Menu Screen there are six (6) Control Buttons.
Typically, the top Button is reserved for the Abacus 21 Application Main Menu Button.
This leaves five (5) User-Defined Buttons.
The definition of Application Control Buttons is configured per Profile... so each User Profile can have a different combination of Menu Application Control Buttons assigned.
Consequently, there are two steps to activating one of the Menu Application Control Buttons:
Set up an appropriate Control Button ("Left" Menu Area) pertaining to the target Menu Option.
Within a Profile, link an Menu Application Control Button to the target Menu Option.
In this example, we will create a Profile called 'Human Resources' -- and have the 2nd Menu Application Button assigned to do a Quick-Jump to 'Work Class Setup'.
First, set up a Profile by going to the SEC-PS Menu:

Set up a Human Resources Profile:

Go to the 'Start Menu' Tab:

Click on 'Left Main Menu Button 2' and assign it to the 'Work Class Setup' Menu Option:

Also remember to assign Button 1 to the 'Abacus 21 Main Menu':

Assign the Profile to a User Group or User (by 'arrowing' from the Available Profiles to the Assigned Profiles):

Log Off... and Log back in under the User ID which has access to the Human Resources Profile:

The Log-In Process will go to the Main Application Menu... with the 2nd Application Control Button present on the left:

Notice that the 'Work Class Setup' Button does NOT have the Caption visible.
Clicking on the 'Work Class Setup' Button (the 'workers' on the left), takes you directly to the 'Work Class Setup' Menu Option (from the 'Staff Setup' Menu):
