Shown here is the TOPS Main Menu... with the WorkOrder Button highlighted:
Below is a typical TOPS™ WorkOrder:
Please consult with TOPS™ regarding the details of their WorkOrder module.
The 'Costs' button in the upper-left is where elements are added to a WorkOrder.
The TOPS™ WorkOrder Module allows for the entry of any of three Cost-Types: Labor, Material, or Other.
'Material' is the Cost-Type that relates to "Parts" (the Abacus Inventory System).
Parts are normally (if not using the Abacus W/O Interface) maintained within the TOPS™ WorkOrder System via the Control-Information tab:
Do 'not' use the "Define Parts" function within TOPS™ when utilizing the Abacus-TOPS WorkOrder Interface... as any additions-changes made in TOPS will 'not' be communicated back to Abacus 21 !!!
The following shows the Abacus-TOPS WorkOrder Interface Communications-Exchange Program (which usually is set up to run as a 'service' in the background... 'underneath the surface'):
At this particular time, the Part "P01" -- the Tank Flap -- was the last Item updated to TOPS... in this case as it had recently been 'Received' (which updated its Quantity-On-Hand, Weighted-Average-Cost, and Last-Cost in Abacus... and dynamically updated TOPS with Part P01's Cost (set to the Weighted-Average-Cost in Abacus).
Note that the System can be set to Cost-Price on the basis of Weighted-Average-Cost, Last-Cost, or (by exception per Part) Base-Price -- see Below.
Note: The System actually provides for alternative methods of Pricing-Costing Parts in TOPS -- beyond the Weighted-Average-Cost (WAC) method illustrated above:
The general method (per Inventory System) is based on a setup: Weighted-Average-Cost (WAC) or Last-Cost.
If a Base-Price happens to be filled in (on the Item Maintenance 'General Tab'), then it overrides the System-setting of WAC or Last-Cost -- for that particular Item-Part.
The following TOPS screen allows you to add Parts to a WorkOrder:
You search for and select a Part (entering a Quantity) from the list of available Parts (which have been created and updated from Abacus).
CRITICAL NOTE -
The TOPS example here is for informational purposes only. Do 'not' use the "Item Setup" Button within TOPS™ (to create Parts 'on the fly') when utilizing the Abacus-TOPS WorkOrder Interface... as any additions-changes made in TOPS will 'not' be communicated back to Abacus 21 !!!
