From the Tee
The challenges build on the Third hole. The Course remains friendly on the short par three only 131 yards (Championship) and a short iron for all players. The strategic principle on this hole is both functional and historic. Like Scott Hazeldine, we employed a bunker placement that can fool you into hitting the ball short. The bunker is well short of the green, leaving a section of hidden fairway between the back of the bunker and the front collar, causing the green to appear to be much closer than it really is. No matter how good you are, many players have succumbed to this effect and, even with the exact yardage, they still find it difficult to hit the ball hard enough. This deceit will cause many chips for par on this hole. The left side of the putting surface has an interesting series of slopes, making the left pin locations far more difficult than the right. The slightest error on your tee shot will cause the ball to roll slowly to the left, just a few feet off the putting surface.
